3. Common Changes that Occur during Puberty and Adolescence

Kids experience many of the same changes during puberty. In this episode, Dr. Lori Reichel and Jen Aull, NYS Health Teacher of the Year (2012), describe the common changes most children experience. Common changes include: Physical changes including growth spurts, maturing genitals, an increase in body odor, pimples, hair growth in new areas, overall body shape changes, and having sexual feelings. Emotional changes including the increase in moodiness. And other changes including an increase in responsibility and decision making, more interest in peers and friends, and possible questioning of beliefs and values.
